How to install an aerothermal equipment

In recent months we have seen how energy costs have reached unimaginable prices, something that has made many users rethink the type of air conditioning system they want in their homes. When betting on efficient systems one of the most interesting options is the aerothermal, especially if you have an installation of solar panels. In this post we talk about it and the main aspects to take into account in its installation.

Installation of an aerothermal system.

Aerothermal systems are particularly suitable for single-family homes or small/medium buildings, although they also have industrial applications. Its development is possible both in new buildings and in existing buildings that have space for the placement of outdoor units.

The two most commonly used emission systems in aerothermal systems are underfloor heating and low temperature radiators, although they are not the only ones. Depending on the case, the aerothermal installation must be made on an existing installation or it can be made new from scratch.

Steps to perform the installation of an aerothermal equipment.

Determine the most favorable type of installation and carry out the design.

The first task will be to consider the different installation alternatives in order to choose the most favorable for the client. Here we must take into account factors such as customer needs (for example if you want to include DHW or not), if there is already a previous installation (radiators or underfloor heating) or is a new construction, the available budget, etc..

Based on this, it will be necessary to design the installation with all the necessary calculations and to select the components for the installation.

Select the components required for the installation.

Among the main components to choose is the heat pump, which must be adapted to the needs of the installation. The heat pump can be:

  • Air-to-air: for heating and cooling, but not for producing domestic hot water (DHW).
  • Air-water: this is one of the most widely used systems today and also allows the production of domestic hot water (DHW) to be incorporated into the air conditioning, so that the needs of the home are covered with only one installation.

For the choice of the aerothermal module, the location and size of the house must be taken into account. The placement of the outdoor module (compressor) is critical because it is an element that produces noise and can cause problems with neighbors if it is not positioned correctly.

Some recommendations to follow in this regard are:

  • There must not be any obstacle preventing the free circulation of air around the outer module for both suction and injection.
  • It should not be placed near rest areas, terraces, or in front of walls with glass.
  • A site should be chosen that is free of prevailing winds.
  • It must have a nearby electrical installation that is suitable for connection.

As for the interior module (hydrokit), it will be necessary to evaluate if there is a suitable area for its placement or if, on the contrary, a monoblock unit is chosen, that is, one that does not require an interior module as it is integrated in the exterior module.

In addition to these components, other components may also be required, such as the DHW storage tank, radiators, valves, etc., depending on the installation.

Removal of the previous installation.

If the project is for the replacement of an old installation, the old boiler and other elements (such as radiators) should be removed if they are considered unsuitable for reuse. In this case, the water circuit should be emptied and new radiators should be installed with the appropriate connections.

Assembly of the new installation.

When undertaking the assembly of the new installation, the specific needs of each project must be taken into account, as this will determine the number of working hours required.

Possible tasks to be performed at the facility may include:

  • Piping installation
  • Outdoor unit installation
  • Indoor unit installation
  • DHW tank installation
  • Radiator installation
  • Installation of wifi and communication connections
  • Etc.

Start-up.

Finally, once the installation has been completed, it is necessary to check all elements and connections to ensure proper operation of the installation. Once completed, the customer will be able to make use of his new installation.

Aerothermal and solar energy.

Combining the installation of aerothermal energy with solar panels is a smart decision, since both systems enhance the benefits they already offer in terms of energy savings and emissions reduction. In this way, the electricity needs of the aerothermal system are covered by the solar energy production itself.

If you are an installation professional and you already include the installation of aerothermal energy in your services or you want to do it, in Wattwin we want to be your ally in the implementation and commissioning of your projects.

With our platform, we value the importance of having advanced and accurate design tools to make your work more efficient and effective. Our aerothermal designer will guide you through the entire process to create projects with a specific and optimized approach to ensure maximum efficiency in each of them.

How does it work?

It's easy. In just 3 steps you will be able to create an aerothermal project ready to close your sale.

  • Step 1: Build your product catalog or use the one we suggest. In just a few clicks you can keep it up to date.
  • Step 2: Design your installation from the entered data. The design wizard will calculate the heating, cooling and DHW needs to be covered in each installation. We have implemented a heat pump recommender that will advise you, which product from the catalog is the most suitable.

WattTip:

Maybe it is a good time to offer your customer other solar self-consumption and electrification solutions, such as solar panels or electric vehicle chargers. We call this "cross-selling". Wattwin is a one-stop solution where you can work on projects with different self-consumption products, whether residential or industrial.

  • Step 3: Create a quote in an automated way. With Wattwin's quotation template, you will have a branded document ready to send to your customer. With this advantage, it will be much easier and faster to close your sale.

We know your work doesn't end here. Once you've won that customer, it's time to start the installation. With Wattwin, you'll simplify your day-to-day life even more. Read on to find out how.

  1. Opportunities dashboard: With this feature you can track the status of all your opportunities and keep better track of how many are in progress, which ones have been won and which ones need to be moved back to in case they are stuck at some point in the cycle.
  1. Service module: With it, each start-up will be much easier to manage. It coordinates each installation step by step without losing information along the way, assigns tasks to different teams, tracks the process of each task and controls due dates.

Wattwin allows you to monitor your projects, thus ensuring the detection of possible incidents and/or equipment maintenance.
